High output pickups that sound good with mahogany (NOT EMGs)

Here's my combo, in a mahogany-bodied maple-necked explorer style guitar.


GFS Crunchy Rails in the bridge, Dream 180 in the neck. I had your exact needs in a pickup combination, and decided on these. Here are the only clips I have, and they're okay but I have been meaning to record better examples since I got new mics in. Expect slop (both in the playing and in the mix), it's just a scratch pad recording after all.

I think he's trying to say that Seymour Duncan's pickup sounds good in mahogany. I was just unaware, and quite surprised, that he is only manufacturing one pickup now.



he's back to the 70's pickup business
lot of options: dimarzio super distortion, duncan jb or stock pickups :lol:

I bought the guitar finally today. It's a sweet axe! :love:

 

Rant about teh EMGs are in another thread...

 

 

I noticed that my guitar made of mahogany, feels quite lighter in weight compared to my guitar made of maple and agathis.
