Members saktr-iyko
The ones from the 70s that everybody hates. That thin tweaked out clean sound is the best sound for guitar. And its the grumbly fragmented breakup one of the few distorted electric guitar sounds that isn't cliched to the point of having a genre named after it. Do you like the original Kustom amps with the tuck & roll upholstery?
Members Urban Ghandi
I still own "my first amp ever," a Peavy Deuce Combo. It has 6L6's in the Power section and a Solid State Pre-Amp. That amp kicks all kinds of ass!!!! It seems really no different than running a clean boost in front of an all tube amp IMHO.
Members newholland
aw man.. i HATE those things! i remember playing on a bandit 65 212, and the gain on that thing from the early 80s was the WORST id ever heard outside a gorilla... and in fact, the gorilla probably sounded better... the sunn beta lead was remotely compelling.. and it's attack was great.. but as it tailed out... freakin' most incredibly inorganic sounds EVARRRR... they're definitely 'character tones'... but i dunno.. i know i sure couldn't use 'em! Members Flogger59
Lab Series, very nice amps. I'd like to find an L5, L7, or L9.
