Members lightninglicks
hi i blew up my line 6 spider II head a while back ... not sure if it was because i was running the cab wrong ... but anyway i got some fuses and it still didn't work so if i an recall correctly i believe someone told me that is could have been the transformer ? well i have it open I'm looking inside and i know next to nothing about electronics i can't see anything wrong but then i wouldn't know a transformer if it shocked my ass into unconsciousness so does neone know how i may be able to fix this ? Members NeloAngelo
take it to someone who knows what they are doing before you kill yourself. or do yourself a favor and get rid of it.

Members LeftyScum4000
Fiddle with it, ideally while hooked up to the mains, and see what happens. I predict good results.
Members the_bleeding
happened to mine when i had one. The {censored}er would sound funny until i hit it, then it would sound normal for a few minutes and then get worse until i hit it again. After the tech called line6, all he replaced were the ribbon wires, and it fixed it all up.
Members lightninglicks
well one thing i kinda remember is that the lights still went on and i think i was able to plug in headphones as well and have sound but there was no sound when i tried to plug it into my 4x12
Members knucklefux
try a different speaker cable otherwise, it's probably your output transistors. should be a couple bills to fix, if that's what it is.
Members lightninglicks
oh yeah , output transistor, that sounds like what i was told about before ...a couple bills ? almost falls under "cheaper to buy a new one " but i could use it as a recording deal as the direct out still works
Members lightninglicks
tried to plug into a cab again but no luck looking at the electronics i can now see what burnt up .. it's on the board connected to the heat sink and it looks like it was a black pot on the left side that blew...is this the output transistor you are talking about? Members RussAnderson
yeh seriously man do not fiddle with this amp if u don't have a clue what your doing ,either take it to a tech or simply get a better amp .
Members lightninglicks
it's actually sounding ok when i plug it from the direct out into an interface, so guess i'll keep it around just for that use until i can get it to a tech thanks

Your line 6 head fried? So what's the problem again?
Members drewl
You cooked something in the output power amp. If it powers up you could still probably use it as a preamp, or use it as a paperweight.
Members lightninglicks
hehe ... really seems that line 6 is proof that u don't get what u don't pay for in amps ... i'm gonna use as a preamp for sure ...it was always a terrible head in any case! Members HKSblade1
It's a solid state amp. DC rails are probably 40v +/- Sounds like the output IC is blown. Look for the chip on the heatsink that has staggered pins. May be a TDA7294 or some number like that. Or pay 90-$100 to get the Spider fixed.
