Real 1961 AC15 vs. Axe-FX recording experiment inside.

Alright,

I got the AC15 for a few days... I wanted an experiment.

I doubt it will succeed though. I won't tell you what is what here.

I have 1 track of 1961 AC15 twin here... That is 2-10 inch blues

in it. I have one track of Axe-FX. For speakers on the Axe-FX, I

used 1 blue and 1 gold 10 speakers in the sim.

I recorded the real AC15 with an older SM57 midway between

the cone and the surround. I prefer that spot, if you perfer the

mic somewhere else, you record that way...Haha. The SM57 is

plugged into a borrowed Greenriver mic pre. The Axe-FX is direct.

If you can get by the totally easy and pedestrian playing, guess

which is which. The aren't the same playing on each track. That

will help you seperate the amps tones as well. In recording these,

I did use a mastering compressor.

I don't know if enough people will be willing to guess which is which

though!

Sounds Great!

Hey, do you EQ the highs back in after you record? Mine always disappear when I make a clip. What frequencies do you boost if any during mixdown?

Thanks man! No, I don't eq anything back in. What you hear is what got recorded with the exception of a mastering compressor to level everything

out.

For some reason my clips lose all their crispy. Maybe next time I'll move the mic around and experiment.
