Members Stevenexp
Damn, I hate when I do that. Doesn't really hurt anything right? aside from wearing the tubes out?
Members GCDEF
No. Tube amps are nowhere near as fragile as a lot of people seem to think they are.
Members FastRedPonyCar
no but leaving it on overnight at full on with the volume at noon will probably kill any weak tubes.
Members roland
As long as the speaker is connected it should be fine.
Members volvo1800
I accidently left my amp on at volume last night and it works just fine.

Members KsE fan
EVH left the 5150 III prototype apparently on for a week straight (squeeling feedback.... guitar just on the ground in front of it).

Members Stevenexp
On standby the tubes are only seeing heater voltage. Heater burnout is pretty much unheard of, so no worries. A little tid-bit of tube history: There were vacuum tube radio manufacturers who offered radios with an "instant on" circuit. What this did was keep the tube heaters running at all times. The high voltage circuit was rectified with selenium diodes so it would start instantly when you hit the power switch. Consumers were amazed That's pretty cool. My Dad bought his Sears tv cuz it had instant start. The dog used to lay under the console since it was always warm. More tv's had the afterglow problem with the fast start circuits. Members cauberallies
My third 5150 spent almost an entire year on standby, except when I was playing it, or if I had to take it somewhere. I don't know if it was just a fluke, but that set of tubes lasted much longer than any other set I've had in a 5150. Someone told me that it reduces wear on the tubes, and I wanted to try it, and it seemed to work for me.
