Members Dewysoss
Sweet. What's the average rate on a used DSL100? And how are them cleanz? I've heard that they aren't exactly 'clean,' more like a driven bluesy clean. It seems a few people in this thread have had trouble doing this. $600-$800. You CAN get the clean pretty clean, but it does break up very nicely. If you need uber clean, look for a used JVM 2 channel.

Members Shenaniganizer
Balls. I'm going to go start a thread about "American" vs "British" voiced amps, and what the {censored} the difference is and how you can tell which is which,
Members liamlw
JCM900 is on a {censored} ton of good metal albums. Heartwork comes to mind
Members LordThurisaz
The main difference is the emphasis in mids, besides the way the lows and highs are voiced.
Members indiegod
Marshall JCM900 MkIII 2100/2500 (not the Dual Reverb) - This amp with a 1960B cab has a really tight bottom end and chugs with the best of them. Push this amp with a good overdrive and or distortion pedal, and the bottom on this amp will crush your chest. In addition, this amp has a preamp and a gain knob, which go from 1-10 and 11-20, respectively. Note: The JCM900 MkIII is the ultimate factory modded evolution of the JCM800 MkII. Uses full sized pots and is basically same circuit as JCM800 with extra gain. Marshall JCM900 SL-X (Super Lead eXtended)- This high-gain amp can do the br00talz easy, but the extra preamp tubes put out extra noise, especially if you use an overdrive. More gain than other JCM900 amps. KISS used them in 90's Tour. Marshall JCM900 4100/4500 Dual Reverb - Do not ever buy one of these reverb, tone sucking, pieces of crap. Run.....run......run away, as fast as you can from anyone trying to sell you one of these, or a JCM800 2205/2210, they are the same type circuit. Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 - Good amp for br00talz and newest Marshall I would buy. This amp uses small, black, Chinese pots though. Only buy this amp if you need to switch from gain ch. to the clean ch. in the same song, for some unknown reason, or don't want to own a Marshall and a Fender amp. just got a jcm 900 mkIII and its true it is teh brootz ! Members thinkpad20
I don't think there's any amp with more gain than a JVM...

Members LordThurisaz
Some amp company just needs to cut the corners of putting in the tone stack, and let everyone else do it themselves with descriptions as to what different values do. Then again, if everyone followed suit, modders would be pointless.
Members liamlw
Not a good deal at all.A good price for a JCM800 is ~1200-1500. split channels are worth less. Super Leads have gone for under 1k.
Members zeusecho
So many people suggesting teh DSL...unboosted. Really??? I guess I'm a noob and can't dial in an amp but my DSL will not do the brootz unboosted.

Members JesusCrisp
From all the Marshall tube amps, I think the JCM800 2203KK can do the best metal sound without boosting and modding.
