Will be here tomorrow. Laney TT50H. Got it for 510$. Can't {censored}ing wait ! I know it dosent have as much gain as a the GH or VH series, but i'm perfectly happy with it. It seems to have a bit more gain than my JCM 800, and have a much different sound aswell. I think i'm going to be very happy with it. I was wonder all you guys opinions on it ? Thanks in advance. :thu:

Yeah, a RAT and a Drivetrain. But I normally just turn the gain on the 800 to 10 if I want heavy.... I don't normally use the pedals... and I play a metalish style...

I think this laney will be able to get me what I need though, and provide a better clean channel then my 800 which sounds kind of dull to me.

Hey solarburn. I noticed your a NOS tube user. Me too. Telefunken SMOOOOOTH plate ! : ) I got some RFT EL34's in my JCM 800 too.

I actually like both smooth and ribbed. I've got both versions. I have a set of RFT EL34's too. Pretty nice them German tubes! The RFT 12AX7's are one of my fav's in V1 too. How I have it now the amp just sings and the articulation from the Telefunken and the 6CA7's is the best I've had with my DSL. I put the 6CA7EH's in about a month ago. Turned out to be pretty damn sweet!

My 3 favorite NOS preamp tubes are:

1. Raytheon Black Plates

2. RFT's

3. Telefunkens-If my ears aren't play'n tricks on me the ribbed have just a bit more bite than the smooths. May be my imagination hehe.

I've got a drawer full I play around with. Mostly preamp tubes though. Those damn power tubes are too much $ for NOS.

my 3 fav. NOS 12ax7

1.Telefunken smooth plate

2. Tungsram (the most underated NOS 12ax7 IMO)

3.Amperex

My least favorite is my Mullard... I always give it a shot, but it's dull and lifeless.

I actually use SovtekLPS 12ax7's in my JCM 800 for preamp... they actually sounded better than the NOS in that amp to me. But for my other amps it's nos. I used to have a B-52 that LOVED nos.

PS - have you ever tried a 12BZ7 in the V2.... you can get them pretty cheap, and they give you a really HUGE sound. Great if you like real tight chuggs.... just a little secret. ; )

Those are great tubes as well. I've got a buddy that loves the Amperex. I haven't tried the 12BZ7 but there were a couple guyz on another forum that were using these and reported the same thing. I may have to try it some time. Normally I prefer a looser feel cause I play blues, rock and hard rock. I don't go very heavy these days. I'll keep it in mind though.:thu:

I've used the LPS in my PI many times. Good Sovtec. The other Sovtec 12AX7's to my ears not so good at all hehe. I've got CP tubes that I like too in mine especially for higher gain applications. For some reason Raytheon BP's have trippled in price. I have no idea why?

Nice amp porn by the way. She looks great and sounds like delivers too! I've never seen the TT50H.:thu:

Sweet I hear great things about the GH series too ! I almost got a GH50L, but the TT was what I wnated from the beginning. It's hard to find info on them though because no one uses the TT series. really great head.

bass_n_drums -- thanks !

Yeah, I know....

The description of the one I have coming is... "It worked OK until I tried it

into a Hot Plate.... "

Best case.... HT fuse. Worst case... OT....

I figure fuse or screen resistors.

Well, i'll try to give a quick summary. This is based on both of them going through the Marshall Greenback cab you see pictured with them.

The Marshall is more Midrange focused, while the TT is alittle more tame in that frequency. The TT has MUCh more bass, and has more of a 'fizz' on the top end than the marshall.

The do sound pretty different. The TT has about 20-25% more gain maxed out than the Marshall also. The Marshall will always be my #1 however, because that was the sound I always idolized. But the TT has found a new place in my heart, It's here to stay for sure !

My favorite settings on the TT so far is -- Channel 3, Gain 10, Drive 10, Boost off, bright off, xpand off, modern on, presence 10, treble 9, mid 5, bass 10, reverb off.

It sounds so killer, and crystal clear, but dosen't loose its chunk.
