Members TheEsupremacy
The 8.8 was located 22 miles into the earth. Could you imagine if it had been closer to the surface?

Members kanamvar32
I know it's extremely unlikely. But, sometimes I wonder if the bombs we're dropping in afghanistan could cause the plates to shift ever so slightly.damn chaos theorists
Members Kerouac
The one thing I saw that was good is that apparently Chile's infrastructure is in place. When Haiti got hit everything was gone and down... no one to take initiative, chain of command down, etc. In the days to come, that is going to be a huge blessing. Members Polaris20
Sad but nothing new. Chile is located in an area where earthquakes molest. The biggest earthquake ever was recorded in the same place as this 8.8. Yup. If Wikipedia is to be believed (yes, I know.....Wikipedia )http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chile_earthquakeQuite a few nasty ones throughout the last 500 years. Chile knows this, that's why the more modern buildings are built to account for that. Unlike Haiti.

If that lets go it will be a disaster. Some have predicted that Memphis and Louisville could be completely destroyed.
