My Danelectro DM-25 Sounds Like Morgan Freeman

Guys this thing takes my breath away. I plugged into it on a whim (not even looking to buy an amp) at a little Mom n Pops the other day and was smitten. I can't believe how three dimensional this thing sounds. I believe it was made in '65 or so. It has two channels- one for clean (with volume, treble & bass controls) and another channel with those same controls plus reverb, vibrato level and vibrato speed. The vibrato is turned on and off with a footswitch and sounds great. It's a square wave but isn't too harsh.

It's also surprisingly loud. With the volume set at 12:00 my 08 LP Classic (fitted with Duncan Phat Cat 90's) sounds amazing. Just a little hair but still a great clean sound. In fact, with the amp's volume set a little lower it sounds like the best el84 meets 6L6 tone I've ever heard (and I've owned a TON of high end amps). The notes have a beautiful chime and clarity. This really surprised me- for some reason I thought this would be a very dark sounding amp but it's not at all. It's a very clear and articulate amp. I HIGHLY recommend getting on of these if you can find them.

And yes the head does fit into the back of the cab!

The 12" speaker is non-original which is a GREAT thing as the original's really sucked the tone out of the amp (according to the research I've done).

Anybody else using one?

It was tagged for $550 but I traded in a ton of stuff I had sitting around the house and got it for an even deal. Here's some pics of my new favorite amp:

I was gonna pull up some porn and have a good ol' time, but you, sir, saved me the trouble

$550 for a piece of history like that? Dammit, I'm envious. How's it sound cranked? (Or dare you try to push its limits? ... probably would wanna tech to look it over first)

It sounds amazing cranked- I probably shouldn't but that's one of the reason's I got it. The natural OD is great- not too heavy but not clean either. I probably should get it looked over. GREAT amp though!!! I'd highly recommend getting one if you can find it.

I need to post some clips.

Yes, clips are in order. And I definitely look out for one or something like it on my occasionally mom&pop raids

Wow, these DM25's are coming out of the woodwork: Today I walked in to my local music store and discovered this one on consignment. Very beautiful tone, with some bite yet wonderful clarity and a shimmer unlike my Blues Junior. Maybe not quite as much grit as ther Jr. but I love it! As you can see, I tried it out fully dimed, lol. Even niggled the price down $50 off the asking :D

The 1963 Silvertone Dano was not included in this purchase, bought that last time in the same store! Also got a pic of the speaaker and the amp stowed inside. Mine is missing the back speaker panel... Oh well.
