i think the whole terry thing really hurt their image because how can you trust in a company that would put their trust in a piece of {censored} like that and really tarnished the brand name for awhile. Yes the amps are fantastic, but in the competitive world of boutique amps, you have no shot to be and stay relavant if there isnt a buzz constantly about your brand. Marshall and fender dont need that, but the smaller guys do. Look at Bogner, dude keeps reinventing himself making a new line of amps every 5 years or so. thats very smart because it brings his name out in the limelight constantly. Diezel has had the same line of amps with that {censored}ty looking logo on that {censored}ty looking metal grill for over a decade it seems. They need to reinvent themselves and capture peoples imagination again, unfortunatly having a great sounding amp wont sell alone.

But not because Einstein is cheap. It's just because Mesas are here so crazy expensive

Actually, it's a bit of both... And that's exactly the point: you've got to keep in mind that some imported amps cost more not because they're necessarly better, but just because... they're imported.

Most people tend to go by the "you get what you pay for" rule and think that just because an amp costs more it's better built and better sounding, but quality is not the only factor in a price tag...

For example, here in Italy a Peavey 6505+ is considered high end and costs more than an Engl Blackmore, and a Laney GH (which cost half the Peavey) is considered a poor man's amp... In the end their quality is pretty much on the same level.

Another example: I've read comments by people in the US being underwhelmed by the construction of Engls, Oranges or Cobras - they tend to say they don't look like a amp, they look like your average production amp... Well, that's because more or less they are. They're not boutique or whatever by any means... They cost more than your average US built production amp just because they're imported.

(Not bashing these at all, they're great amps! ;) )

Well, "buzz" nowadays is mostly created via the internet and for amps within a certain price range still on HCAF.

But beyond that range and for anything booteek HCAF nowadays is completely irrelevant. IMO.

i dont necessarily agree with that. When something gets hot here no matter the cost there are plenty of fish waiting to gobble it up still. I know you are very close with Peter himself so you have personal attachment with the company, but imo Diezel needs to reinvent itself to capture the imaginations of people once again. I honestly think the Terry Hicks fiasco took a lot of wind out of the sails of the company and left them in limbo here in the states and put doubt in a lot of peoples minds for a short period of time and that was at the height of Diezels popularity here on this board. Not saying that hcaf is the epicenter of amp sales, but if the amp is hot here there is a good chance its the rule not the exception.

Hagen was launched with perfect timing during the world's biggest fair for instruments in Frankfurt this year and got awesome reviews (and orders) from dealers and distributors worldwide.

The first batch of Hagen which is currently produced is the biggest batch Diezel ever made for a new model.
