Members Guitarist+
Epiphone Valve Jr Half Stack + EQ Pedal + Volume/Gain Booster Pedal + maybe a noise gate = what you want, probably. It might not be loud enough on its own for a gig but you can mic it up.
Members Yarbicus
JCA20H and Whitebox 212. Special at whiteboxeng.com for $599.99. I realize that is out of your budget but an incredible deal that will do what you want. Otherwise, JCA20RC combo with an extra 1x12 cab. Members Guitarist+
if you want a combo, the Bugera V22 is probably what you want, or maybe a used Peavey Classic
Members Yarbicus
Thanks Guitarist+. Not a bad option, but I should note the less complicated it is, the better for my situation... So a combo amp would be best, and some break up without pedals would be cool. I'm not opposed to pedals, just prefer not to have to do a whole lot. My post stands. The JCA reacts to your volume knob like no other amp I have ever played. If you need two channels, then the Bugera V22 plus new tubes is the way to go. Members Yarbicus
Burgera, yes. My local one even has a used one. The Peavey Classic series is no longer made but aren't too hard to find used.

Members Yarbicus
I still stand by JCA. Oh, the V22 is the only Bugera/Behringer product that I have ever said positive things about. Really is a good product.

Members Yarbicus
Check out the new line of Ampeg GVT guitar amps !!! Are they out yet? I don't trust Loud anymore. They are tanking BADLY. And about JCA cleans: it has those awesome "right on the verge of breaking up" cleans that I adore.
Members madDdog67
Used Tweaker head, around $300...I've seen a few here for $275. JCA 1x12 for $129 shipped new from Sweetwater, Zzounds, etc. If you can spring for the 2x12, it'll bust your budget by about $20, but well worth it. The Tweaker loves pedals, and you can get a {censored}load of different sounds out of it. The Jet City cabs are win for the money.
Members mystixboi1
Peavey classic 30. Get one used ad a pedal or two!
Members grunge782
I own the Tweaker, HT-5 and Jet City. All great amps, but I'd take the tweaker for your requirements. Loud enough, portable, versatile and can pull off both the fender and marshall tones well. The Peavey Classic 30 is another good choice too. Members shane159
I also say Peavey classic 30. It really is a outstanding amp.

Members guitarbilly74
Alright guys, I'm positive this has been asked before, but I've already looked through some of the forums and I can't come to a conclusion. Budget: $500 Requirements: Relatively portable Suitable for a dorm room and gigging All tube Amazing tone Style I play: Rock and Blues I'm a big fan of Fender amps and know that a Blues JR or Pro Jr or used Hot Rod Deluxe would be suitable options, but I know there are probably some better options out there that I don't know about. And I'm looking for something that might give me a little bit of an edge over the cookie cut amps that everyone buys. What do you guys think would be the best option? JCA20 will fit this perfectly.
