Members MattACaster
You did it right. I've always believed we should let our pets pick us. After we lost our 17 year old kitty and finally felt like getting a new kitty we went to shelter after shelter, looking for a rescue to pick us. We saw lots of adorable candidates, some that we immediately had 3 names for, but not one that was saying "zomg, there you are!! I love you man, let's go". It took a couple months but we found one, a rescue we named Annie (she was orphaned when she was just a couple days old). She's awesome and still a smitten kitten (tho now an adult). A sweet kitty pic to warm teh heart: So much truth in this. If/when I get another cat it will be another rescue and it will be choosing me again. She's adorable!!! Members soundgardener75
So sorry to hear Matt. That was a nice gesture of wrapping Symon with your old favorite shirt after the years of happy times he's spent with you.Mojo sent.
Members Murdoch
Thanks everyone for the kind words. A friend came over and she helped me wrap him him (we used one of my old Social Distortion t-shirts ) and dig a hole for him. We put a couple of flagstones on top and she put a little plant in the center for him. Looks really nice. Took the day off work. Having a beer and a cigar on my back porch now in tribute to my little buddy. ...I must have some dust in my eyes. Yeah, that's it.

Members nightflameauto
Mojo. We lost a kitty to kidney disease a few years ago. It's tough to watch them go that way.
Members MattACaster
... I must have some dust in my eyes. Yeah, that's it. Seemed fitting since he liked to sleep in my laundry and he also liked to hang out while I'd jam to Live at the Roxy.
Members MattACaster
Mojo. We lost a kitty to kidney disease a few years ago. It's tough to watch them go that way. I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but Symon was diagnosed with being in the begining stages of renal failure maybe 8-10 months ago. He was about 14 pounds when I got him but he slimmed down to 8 when he got sick. I'm not sure if thats what got him in the end, though.
Members gdwill2u
Sorry for yor loss. A pet is a very special friend and your loss reflects the love and care you gave you cat. Mojo and prayers sent your way - I lost two labs (they were brothers) within 6 months of each other and I can still feel sorrow for my grief. We picked up a lovely Golden Retriever at our local shelter and after about one year he is my new best friend.

Members Seattle Doug
Oh no. So sad to read this. I'm a 'cat guy' too. Jasper "Jazz Cat" is my best buddy. He's only been with me a little over a year but very important to daily life here. I'd post pics if I wasn't so dumb about how to do that. Sorry about your loss, Matt. Members BottomHeavyKate
Symon Rocked Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...
