Members Bryan316
Made two single 15 cabinets. Basically a 24x24x16 box, two port holes. SOUND AWFUL. These are not bass cabs. I don't think any amount of baffling or port tuning will salvage these bastards. But, I have them, so I'll use them with my PA until I can afford to shoot them dead. Or sell em to some kid who needs a bass rig.

Members MauiBassPlayer
I am interested in building some. I need to know dimensions, I guess Birch is the best wood to use, I would like to make a 2x12 cabinet.
Members WRGKMC
I would google up a Fender Bassman cab specs. The ones from the 60s and 70s had 2X12" and sounded pretty good.

Ideal dimensions depend on which drivers you intend to use, and what kind of sound you're looking for. I agree that Baltic Birch is the best, but other types of plywood, like Appleply, are also very good. The important thing is that there are no voids. Some people prefer MDF, but I do not. It is heavier than plywood, and not as strong. If it gets dropped, or something hits it, it can be crushed. Plywood stands up to that sort of thing much better than MDF, or any other type of particle board. One technique, alluded to by WRGKMC, is to take a cabinet you like and clone it. It doesn't have to be the Fender Bassman, but it could be.
