Members Cliff Fiscal
Got a TOL100 4 channel amp head coming in, need a MIDI footswitch to operate it. They have a Randall 4 channel switch, but it's $110. At that price I can almost get a multi-fx or something........that can control the amp and have effects. (I think the GT8 is now around $130) what are my other options? -------------------------------------------------------- Another option is: 2 separate 1/4" footswitches (mono), but it seems kind of complicated. The amp has two jacks marked A & B for remote switching This is what the manual says. It shows two single footswitches A & B, then the following chart A B Channel open open 1 open closed 2 closed open 3 closed closed 4 So, does that mean that various combinations of two footswitches can access all four channels? Channel 1 = two footswitches not engaged, and to get to channel 4, I'd have to hit both switches simultaneously? Kind of a pain in the ass! Members Cliff Fiscal
hmmmm....the line 6 M5 has MIDI IN/OUT and only costs a little more used. edite: {censored}! this won't work. duh.
Members Cougar Hunter
anything that SENDS program change message data will work. I've used: Tech 21 Midi Mouse (not the best option, IMO)ADA MPCADA MC-1Hughes & Kettner Access Preamp BTW, the reason for the two plug system = some FX units, midi switchers, etc can use relay switching via midi CC or PC. Example = the HK Access preamp has two relay jacks that will switch channels on non-midi amps or midi amps that include those 2 jacks. (i.e. Randall Mod100) it's like: in/in = ch1in/out=ch2out/in=ch3out/out=ch4 This is also how the CAE 3+ and Bogner Fish change channels.
Members Cliff Fiscal
hmmm...thanks for the info. That makes a little more sense now. Still not sure what the best option is. 2 footswitches, plus the hassle and error factor of stomping both at the same time.... Might have to go midi to avoid the hassle. Members Cliff Fiscal
this is pretty simple....will this work? http://www.roland.com/products/en/FS-6/ Boss FS-6? or http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORANGE-amps-footswitch-2-button-by-Switch-Doctor-/160880724071?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25753d0867
Members Cougar Hunter
FS6 is alright, but it requires a power supply no matter what, and it only has a battery connector. {censored} the FS6. Two FS-5L's will work better if you're going for a cheap non-midi solution.
Members Cliff Fiscal
$30 a piece. not terrible. I think have a stereo foot switch at home. two footswitches, meant for a stereo cable. .......is it possible to rewire that one? convert to mono jacks? or is there some sort of stereo to dual mono adapter?? Midi Buddy is good. The old ARTs, ADAs, Rockman, Yamahas etc will work too. You can find these units for about $40 used.
Members ShaneV2
I like the Tech 21 MIDI moose (not mouse) for this type of thing.
Members Cliff Fiscal
^^too big. forget about ever using this option on stage, that would be some crazy tap dancing Just buy an used MIDI FC. Would it be all that terrible to step on two foot switches side by side? Should be able to hit both with one foot in one motion.

Members Cliff Fiscal
Rocktron MidiXchange - I have one for sale. Hmmm......not sure how that would work.....I'd have to click up and down "presets" to access the channels before I engage them? not a fan of that. Members Cliff Fiscal
In general, most MIDI pedals are TOO BIG and have WAY more functionality than I need. Thought about the GT3, of Line 6 M9 or something like that too....which has more value.....but also more tone suck. I think I might just cave and buy the Randall 4 channel switch.
