Members SexWithRobots
My blacktop B and E string have been giving me a huge headache. I will tune all the strings with my tuner and they are all individually in tune but the only 2 that are out when fretting a chord is the B and E. especially chords like this --2------------------ --3------5----------- ---------5----------- --------------------- --------------------- --------------------- Any advice? This guitar is in E standard with 9 gauge strings. EDIT: Heres a short video cliphttps://www.dropbox.com/s/8hs51exxu9...013_200520.mp4

Members SexWithRobots
I cant get a new nut before Sunday. The intonation seems ok
Members Valtiel
9's are definitely more susceptible to intonation issues due to fret pressure. Do you fret lightly or do you really clamp down? How big are the frets?
Members SexWithRobots
I had 10s in standard and same problem. Its not an issue with playing style my other guitar is fine.
Members Mesa/Kramer
Take it to a shop and get a Pro set up and evaluation of your nut, and fret wear.
Members ENdtime
Chicago, eh? I can prolly figure it out and fix it, or at the least take a look at it, if you are ever in my neighborhood.. Pm me if you are interested.. I don't have a formal guitar repair business, but I work on and build guitars on the side.. But most suggestions here are things to take a look at.. I would think an evaluation of the nut and a proper setup should cure it, but it could also be other things..
Members Nerine
Firstly fix the intonation. I check with the harmonics vs the fretted note on the 17th fret. Think it's 17th anyway. Don't have a guitar to hand to confirm. If its not that, it's definitely the nut. Assuming the guiar plays alright and doesn't fret out anywhere. Members SexWithRobots
I have the screw on the E string bridge tightened all the way and it still flat, this is pissing me off it sounds like butthole. Spent like 45 minutes on it and its no different.

Members Bumhucker
Intonation problems around the 3rd fret are usually because of the nut. It's probably too high. Definitely intonate with fresh strings and check the open string vs. the same note fretted at the 12th... not the 12th fret harmonic vs. 12th fretted Whenever I have intonation problems with the g and b string I usually try to find the best compromise by making an open d and open g chord both sound reasonably in tune.... If you had an LP or tune o matic bridge equipped guitar, the solution would be simple, but since you have telecasters, I dunno what the solution would be...
