I did consider changing the highest option to something absurd, but I'd already written 1-10 in the post, didn't want to contradict myself, and sure as {censored} didn't want to endure the lengthy process of trying to change it. It was more just the fact that it had taken me 10 minutes of alternating between nothing happening and plain ol' failing just to get to the poll option page, and I didn't want to have to endure another 10 minutes of trying to change it so that I could then go back to the poll options that for all I know might never have even posted.
