Members u6crash
Two part post: It's been about ten years since I took any kind of class about electronics, and while I have an idea on what the basic components do, I'm a long way from being able to design a custom schematic myself. Here's what I want for my Strat: 1. One volume, one tone. I'll be using concentric pots to do this. I'm undecided if it should be a master tone control, or strictly for the bridge. 8 times out of 10 I'm using the bridge pickup alone. The other two times I'm using the bridge & middle together or the neck alone. 2. Rotary pickup selector. Probably a five position to maintain the same configuration. A six position is something I'd consider, but would only result in one more combination (neck/bridge or neck/middle/bridge; neither of which I'm 100% certain are possible). 3. Almost certainly will be using the Lace Sensor Blue/Silver/Red set. There's this diagram at GuitarElectronics.com that I could emulate. Is it safe to say that I'd still want a 250k pot for the tone? Part two: Rather than copy a diagram for this (but especially future projects), I'd like to get a better idea of what I'm doing. Which of these books (or others) do you most recommend? Electronic Projects for Musicians by Craig AndertonGuitar Electronics for Musicians by Donald BrosnacDo-It-Yourself Projects for Guitarists by Craig Anderton I'm leaning towards the third one myself. May try to see what I can order through the library first before I buy one unseen, but your recommendations are appreciated as well. Thanks!
