How about getting a bridge & some tuners on & see how it sounds first? I remember a friend's guitar from years ago that was very similiar. The thing sounded great! One of those if it works don't fix it things.

What's wrong with the pickups that are in it already?

eh there's none! ;)

i've no idea what was originally in here obviously two HB's of some sort...

should i get a roller bridge like this?

GB-0590-010.jpg

also im thinking imperial tuners would look cool?

good point on the set-up! the neck sits in the pocket excellently, but this heel must have been thicker than the original so it seems a bit tall

how high should the fingerboard be off the guitar body?

There are a few roller bridges you can use. Just make sure the string spacing is correct, The nech heel height looks about right from what I can see. I'd stick with the existing pups and see how they sound first. If you go for P90s then they have to be the humbucking size, Standard 90s wont fit. 90s sound better on a casino type body thet is completely hollow. If theres a wood block in the center it may be better sticking with some sort of humbucker but thats your choice.

The rest of it doesnt look too bad.

thats the thing,i don't have the originals so i have to get some kind of replacement

i was thinking these would be good as the body is actually fully hollow?

Since it doesnt have the center block, it probibly is the 50. Will probibly sound OK with the pup you showed. Guitar fetish also hase the Dream 90s which are rated pretty high.

I have an Epiphone Dot. I'm thinking about getting these.

I tried hot wound and single coil and it still hasnt got the sound it should have. Another option for mine might be the TV Jones pups but they are very expensive. http://www.tvjones.com/pickups/tv_classic.htm

Maybe the filteron for the gretch type sound.

If you plan on doing a pup installation yourself I suggest breaking your fingers so you can access the nether regions of this guitar.

i have a solution for you..first off invest in the hollowbody tools. take tar paper and use it as a heat sheld to keep from burning the finish. you solder everything outside the guitar and slide it all though the f-holes.. the right tools are a good investment here

Why don't you buy the original one?

are you talking about the gibson dot???

well im not going to into the whole Gibson speech. if youve never played one of the aria hollows bodies it would be really hard to explain why someone would take the time to fix one. its a really well built guitar and it has an incredible sound.
