I am thinking about recording onto 2 tracks at once1: direct2: mic the guitar I want a clear natural sound, does anyone have any guitar eq suggestions and mic placement ideas. Members Terry Allan Hall
Generally, if you point the mic at about the 15th fret, you get a pretty acceptable sound, but every guitar is a little different (as is every mic), so you'll just have to experiment until you find the "sweet spot". Members Etienne Rambert
With my Elite, I will Mic. one track and then play over it plugged with a direct line into the pre-amp compressor/mixer. I'll mix them about 80/20 (Mic/Direct). I'll use no effects on the Mic'd track and a chorus/delay on the other. But a lot depends on the song too. I'm recording a fast strum Rockabilly number right now. I tried to Mic the Ovation Elite. But it doesn't sound right. So I pulled out the old Guild D-25 and it did the trick. But for finger-picking or leads, the Ovation does fine.
