Members jmingo
What are some good sounding archtop guitar models that would give me that old archtop sound that David Rawlings seems to get with his old old Epiphone acoustic? Thanks
Members Queequeg
you can often find an old Harmony archtop for cheap.there's a lot of them out there. but watch out for the neck (action) on 'em. If it's good, buy it!

Members Queequeg
Originally posted by jmingo thanks for the tips. do they sound good if the necks and action are good? that's a very subjective question. Some folks would say some of them do. Others would say some of them do not...(not really trying to be a wise guy, you know.)Here's one here that might have a good neck on it.Harmony archtop I am not affiliated with the seller, have never seen or played this guitar and cannot vouch for the seller or the guitar.(my attorney made me include that disclaimer)

Members Blackwatch
I've been buying some old Harmony arch tops, re-glueing the braces, and sides, re-setting the necks and general fix ups, and I've never played one that amounts to much. The action is terrible on them. They were cheap guitars to begin with. I used to be careful not to disturb the original finish on them but now I experiment with different finishes on them. it's usually a big improvment....But generally, I personally don't think much of their tone.......
