Members StevlandCleamer
Hey you guys who have tried Lowdens.... How are they built? How do they play? sound? Tell me about your experiences. Thanks.
Members Terry Allan Hall
I've only played two, a mahogany jumbo and a mahogany GC, but both were excellent, and I intend to add a mahogany jumbo to my "harem", eventually. The Avalons are pretty nice, too!
Members riffmeister
The new ones are freakin AWESOME! Shimmery & punchy & even sounding across & up the neck. Two thumbs up!!!
Members telelurker
If you play fingerstyle they are worth checking out. I have an old Lowden F12C, very well made, loud but well balanced sound. The sustain is great and each note of a chord is audible, without being muddy. The neck is wide but shallow - takes some getting used to but it's worth it. Lowdens don't sound like Martins or Gibsons- they are built differently from either. Lowden are also a nice company to deal with, responding promptly to emails etc.
Members paulintheuk
First off I'm not an acoustic expert... here to ask for advice myself... But a mate's Lowden is probably the nicest acoustic I've ever played! Good enough for Richard Thompson, good enough for me (in fact about 3000 times too good for me )
Members DonK
Haven't played a Lowden, but our worship pastor has an Avalon, which I understand to be similar since they're designed by George Lowden. I've played it a bit. It's obviously a very well-made instrument, and it sounds great, but at the price he paid it ought to. It's obviously a subjective thing: there are some great players who swear by Lowdens - like Richard Thompson.
