Members eddidaz Posted March 27, 2007 Members Posted March 27, 2007 I'm thinking a Levys suede strap would be nice for my acoustic, but can't decide on brown, black or tan! Which would look best on my Tanglewood?
Members smatel Posted March 27, 2007 Members Posted March 27, 2007 My suede strap is heavy. It stays in place on my shoulder, but that's not always desireable. I like the Tan with the Tanglewood, and a glass of Merlot.
Members Hamhand Posted March 27, 2007 Members Posted March 27, 2007 I went with the tan.....well, that's the color they had.
Members DeepEnd Posted March 28, 2007 Members Posted March 28, 2007 I have a plain leather Levy's in brown but I like the look of the tan in the suede ones. The brown would be my second choice.
Members eddidaz Posted March 28, 2007 Author Members Posted March 28, 2007 I was leaning towards tan. Sounds like a good idea to me!
Members Greymuzzle Posted March 28, 2007 Members Posted March 28, 2007 Get the tan one. Then give it to Tomcat's dogs for a few days. When you get it back it'll be a variety of tones which will go with anything; and it will also have developed a special 'anti-theft' patina.

Members eddidaz Posted April 3, 2007 Author Members Posted April 3, 2007 Well I got the tan one, put it on ready to jam out some standing acoustic goodness, when BAM, the strap pin pings out of the back of my guitar It's not loose and works ok with a normal strap but this one is pretty thick and hard to get on, so when it is on it loosens the pin a bit and so it pops out when you pull on the strap Would it be ok to glue the pin in?
Members DeepEnd Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 It should be okay to use a drop of wood glue (Elmer's) but IMHO you should look into enlarging the hole in the strap. A place that does shoe repair should be able to enlarge the hole. You can find one in the phone book.
Members eddidaz Posted April 4, 2007 Author Members Posted April 4, 2007 Hmm good idea. I might give that a go. Thanks!
Members guitarist21 Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Would it be ok to glue the pin in? I have an old Sigma that had the exact same problem. I tried gluing it back in, but it always managed to pop out in a week or so. The pin was too small for the hole. I'd say glue yours back in with a bit of wood glue, but if it pops out again soon, you might need to buy a new strap pin. They're pretty cheap. Ellen
