Members NeverTheMachine
What does a water logged acoustic sound like. What happens to the guitar?? I supposed heavier wood would make the tone richer, fuller, and deeper, no?? THis is a serious thread, I think ...
Members drnihili
while the wood would be heavier, it would also be less stiff. Bad sound. THen there's the issue of bad joints and such....
Members Fred Fartboski
I think a waterlogged guitar would be a tonal dud. Then it would most likely warp as it dried out.
Members guit30
It would definitely open up quicker
Members guitarist21
The water would cause some of the joints to come unglued and would warp the wood... like, a lot... Ellen

Members guitarist21
Also, the water would probably absorb or slow the vibrations of the top, causing it to make much less sound than an empty guitar would. "Heavier" wood doesn't necessarily make the tone "richer, deeper, fuller" depending on what you mean by heavy. Density has more of a tonal impact than weight (or mass, I guess, depending on how picky we're being). Ellen
Members Fred Fartboski
I mean, if a waterlogged guitar sounded better, wouldn't alot more people be leaving their guitars out in the rain?
Members Hudman
Why put in it mother nature's hands? Fill it up in your bathtub.
Members Freeman Keller
You wouldn't be able to participate in any of the low humidity threads, Unless, of course it was a Rainsong.
Members AK47
Unless you have something like a RainSong it'll most likely implode. I would not recomend leaving a guitar out in the rain unless your playing really is all wet. Remember it is a guitar not a canoe.
Members Freeman Keller
Remember it is a guitar not a canoe. When I built my first one I didn't want to be disappointed if it didn't work out so I told my wife I was making a canoe paddle. She said "hey, dummy, it won't work - it's got a hole in it" When I built the second one she said "now that you've got two paddles I suppose you're going to start hollowing out a log.."
