Members Grubgoat Posted November 8, 2012 Members Posted November 8, 2012 I've done some google searches, but that doesn't really tell me anything other than that they paid for google hits. Where should I be looking, and what should I be looking for?
Moderators daddymack Posted November 8, 2012 Moderators Posted November 8, 2012 you want a lawyer for what purpose? Contract review? Legal Representation?
Members Grubgoat Posted November 9, 2012 Author Members Posted November 9, 2012 I see. There are lots of things I think I need - Sample clearance, maybe some contract stuff, legal advice in general. I assumed there would be a one-stop-ship kind of Entertainment Lawyer out there. I'm definitely small-time, so I don't really need a full-time person, just someone to go to when something comes up.
Members Johnny-Boy Posted November 9, 2012 Members Posted November 9, 2012 You may want to try "Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts": http://www.vlany.org/legalservices/index.php Good luck, John
Members Joseph Kimbrell Posted May 18, 2013 Members Posted May 18, 2013 I've searched for this kind of thing before too on Google but its a lot of run-around. I think you need to ask friends in the industry if you have them, and try to get a referral to a good entertainment lawyer. Seems to be kinda the same way with management, etc.
Members SamRussell Posted September 7, 2013 Members Posted September 7, 2013 If you are in the UK, the Musicians Union give free legal advice, and can probably recommend you a pay-for lawyer if you need something a bit more in depth.
