I've done some google searches, but that doesn't really tell me anything other than that they paid for google hits. Where should I be looking, and what should I be looking for?

I see. There are lots of things I think I need - Sample clearance, maybe some contract stuff, legal advice in general. I assumed there would be a one-stop-ship kind of Entertainment Lawyer out there. I'm definitely small-time, so I don't really need a full-time person, just someone to go to when something comes up.

I've searched for this kind of thing before too on Google but its a lot of run-around.  I think you need to ask friends in the industry if you have them, and try to get a referral to a good entertainment lawyer.  Seems to be kinda the same way with management, etc.

If you are in the UK, the Musicians Union give free legal advice, and can probably recommend you a pay-for lawyer if you need something a bit more in depth.
