Members acousticdepot
There is a craigslist ad here for a Harmony marquis HM400 for $195.00. Does anybody know anything about these guitars? It has a three piece rosewood back similar to a Martin D35. Except I would assume it is laminate back and sides. I was wondering if the top was solid spruce. http://rochester.craigslist.org/msg/2235707115.html It is a little bit of a drive for me to check this guitar out. So I was trying to gather as much info as possible to determine if the trip is worth it. This would be my beater and would replace my Yamaha FG413S. Opinions appreciated. Members Terry Allan Hall
Priced much too high...in perfect condition, a used one is really only worth maybe $100. Top may or may not be solid, depending on the year it was made, but the rest is poor grade laminate...definitely better guitars out there at that price point, and I'd keep looking. Hey guys, First time poster, long time lurker... I paid $40 for mine off of CL with hard case (because is was a Harmony) and I would not sell it for $400 today.. The inlays are real, at least on mine they are, the top is solid and this is one of the best Martin copies I have ever seen or played in my life.. Just saying.. The only 2 "cheap" things about this guitar are the tuners and the name.. I sold my Takamine because I quit playing it due to this guitar.. I have been offered from $150-$300 for it, and sure I maybe I am "stupid" for not taking the offers, but unless you feel and hear this guitar for yourself, you will just not understand.. Take care
Members acousticdepot
If he was asking $40, I would get it. But $195 or even $150, I would really need to think about it since I am not having any issues with my FG413S. However that is what drew me to the ad was how pretty the guitar looked. I had to email the guy to get the model number initially. I just emailed me back today to see if I was still interested ... perhaps he is in desperation mode now. I replied that I was going to stick with my Yamaha, but maybe he will come back with a really low offer and I will have to rethink this all over again.
