Members spoonie g
So I've always wanted to learn flamenco and have a pretty nice Kremona Fiesta nylon string. Decently nice guitar. Not one that you want to be doing the flameno taps (Golpe) on. So I buy a Oasis guitar armor "tap plate" vinyl finish protectors and applied them as described, smoothing out the bubbles, taking them off when I'm done, etc. So today I get done playing and take them off and see that i have all of these little divits all over the surface of the top where I'd been tapping it. Needless to say, I'm not pleased. I've seen other flamenco players play with these. Is that normal? Is the Kremona top soft (it's solid German spruce)? Members katopp
I can feel your pain."Proper" Flamenco players use even softer tops, mostly cedar, but harder tap plates. Those soft "plates" are not really meant for Flamenco, they are really more licke "scratch protectors". If you hammer them with your nails, they will have no other option than to pass on the punch into the wood.
Members Grant Harding
I'd be tempted to make my own out of the same wood as the top.
