A_str8, if theres no correct or reliable demographic/etc data, and the media can't be taken into consideration (which I agree with), then we can't argue either way, because nobody knows! It's a bit extreme to rule out all rap artists based on thinking they're going to be a problem, I think, but at least take a look at who it is. If it's somebody established, take a look at their stuff. If its demeaning and evil, then forget them. See who they hang around or gig with, and then come up with a decision. If an artist wants to record, and I don't know them, I do some research first, like just mentioned. I'm not a racist, and I try to bring myself away from stereotypes. Unfortunately in this area, it is the rap community that likes to stir trouble. I've had no problems in my studio, but then again I work with rock, classical, and solo acts mostly.
