Members IGWright
If I have a 10k and a 15k drive on the same SCSI channel will the 15k be reduced to the access speed of the 10k? Ian:cool:

The only factor would be them both using up the bandwidth of the bus.
Phil O'Keefe
No, I don't think that will cause any issues... but to me, the bigger question is why bother with SCSI at all these days? If you're already set up that way, then fine... but for a new system, I would suggest fast SATA drives. Heck, I'm still using 7,200 RPM 8 MB Cache P-ATA drives, and drive speed has been a non-issue for me for a long time now. I don't see the need to deal with SCSI hassles or prices anymore. Members IGWright
I'm pretty much stuck with SCSI for now since I have my audio drives in a Magma expansion chassis with the SCSI controller. Right now I'm using an Adaptec 39160.I've got the SYNC set to 20,the BUS 16.My SCSI drive is 73 gig/10k My question is: will there be any performance improvement by buying a 15k as opposed to a 10k if I were to put it on the same chanel as the 10k I've already got? Also, I have the SYNC set to 20 based on one of the forum recommendations. Is this right, or should I have it set to the max (160)? Thanks, Ian:cool:
