Members DonK
That is a beautiful guitar, wish there was another one available like it. I've owned three, all black: an original purchased in '72, a MIJ, and then a MIM. I always loved the look of that guitar, and white blonde is one of my favorite colors. I have a MIJ '62 RI tele and I went into it thinking that I might have to rip the pickups and electronics out until my uncle (guitarist) gave me the very same advice you did. I stuck with the stock electronics and I love it. Thing is, my tele isn't the most twangy (Texas Specials) but I can achieve those country twang sounds through changing my attack on the guitar rather than going for some twangier sounding pickups. It's amazing what you can do with your hands, rather than using it as an excuse to buy more gear. Sorry to veer off topid, beautiful guitar, I'm very jealous. Members clenchedfist
Teles simply kick ass. They feel good, sound great, and you can do a hell of a lot with 'em. Congrats!
