Members bassman21
Hey guys, I need some real help here. I'm a college student, husband, soon-to-be dad and all of that put together doesn't leave much $$$ if you catch my drift. I have a Fostex Multi-track recorder and all I won't to do is find some software that I can drag and drop my tracks on and mix them, EQ them and maybe ad some pretty little effects (reverb and the such). I'm a PC user but I'm hoping when I get out of school that a Mac will be in my future and I can just use Garage Band but for now I need something cheap or free to do all of the above. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Members Danny (NS::U)
I've never used it personally, but others have said it's usable:http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/

Members toddlans
Or check out Reaper Its probably even better than Kristal and still free. They both support VST effects which can be found at KVR Audio
Members UstadKhanAli
I have no idea if this is compatible or what, but I've been told that N-Tracks is really great, and it's very cheap. Mackie's Tracktion 2 is also highly regarded, although that might be a bit more (you used to be able to get it for free, but I don't think that's possible anymore). Members weeman
if u wanna nice little user interface it has to be Cubase SE or Cakewalk Sonar, Freebies can be confusing and too limited krystal has 2 inserts per channel which is definitly annoying
Members blue2blue
I've heard good things about PG Music's Powertracks Pro, which is relatively inexpensive ($50) http://www.powertracks.com/powertracks.htm

I haven't really had an opportunity to try it yet as a multitrack recording, editing program simply because it won't recognize the outputs from my MOTU 2408, even though PG Music customer support says it should. It appears to have pretty good MIDI implementation too. Since I use Adobe Audition, I just haven't messed with it much, but one day....
Members where02190
+1 for Tracktion, easy to use, great plugins, best $200 you can spend IMHO.
