Members seaneldon
So we locked down the date for our party on Sunday, November 5th. TONS of fun gear, plenty of good beer, and the puss'n'boots (girlfriend, she made me stop calling her 34C) will be cooking a big table full of homemade Italian cuisine! Just SOME of the tasty equipment we'll be playing with:Groove Tubes ViPREThermionic Culture Early BirdA Designs PacificaGordon Audio Mic PreTonelux Mic pre, EQ, and summingThermionic Culture PhoenixUA LA2AChandler LTD-2Chandler GermaniumChandler Tone Control EQHelios Type 69 Mic PreShadow Hills MEGA GAMA 8SCA Mic PresEisen Audio Mic PresGreat River MP2-NVAurora GTQ-2Portico PreAPI 2500 and LOTS of mics:Brauner VM1-KHESoundelux E47BLUE KiwiAEA R84Royer R121Royer SF12Josephson C42Crowley & Tripp Naked Eyevintage Neumannsso many more. We'll have a drumkit set up, and a couple of singers in house, and we'll be recording a lot of stuff. ALSO! Bring in your tracks at 24/44.1 and zero-aligned on an external drive or DVD and mix it through our Tonelux and see what you think. If you can bring gear, that'd be sick being that space is limited. If not, just bring your ears and a case of beers. We're starting at 1pm, and going all through the night. E, V, G trains 2 blocks away. PM me for directions. See you there! Members UstadKhanAli
Wish I could show up! Have a beer or ten for me... I am not familiar with the Crowley & Tripp Naked Eye, but great name! I have the Portico mic pre and love it. It'd be interesting to hear how it differs from some of the other ones. And since we were discussing the Gordon, it'd be interesting to hear how that differs from the others as well. That's a nice collection of mic pres and mics for yer Audio Nerd Day. Members UstadKhanAli
Cool. I'm not alone in thinking here that a vocal mic is not really a good vocal mic unless it's large enough to brain someone with, right?

Members UstadKhanAli
So what do you love about the Elysia? I am not familiar with it. Gorgeous picture of it. What do you feel it does better (or different) than other compressors? Sounds like fun. If it weren't for the 3000-mile commute...
