I've just reported him. It's obvious from his history that he's just passing on Chinese fakes.

This is getting out of hand,99% of the Gibson listings are Chinese fakes.Surely it wouldn't be that difficult to pull them all?

I've been telling people here for weeks that eBay UK is going down :)

Here's what Gibson had to say when I wrote them:

Dear Mr. XXX,

Thank you for your E-mail.

There are indeed quite a lot of fake guitars on E-bay at the moment, but

our brand protection department is already working on it. It is indeed

illegal to make and sell these guitars, so I really appreciate your

attentiveness and concerns.

For the moment we have to wait for the procedures of our brand

protection department to end.

I can also reply to you in German, as Gibson added this support to their

services as well. If you have any further queries, please do not

hesitate to contact me again or go to our webpage www.gibson.com/de

My best regards,

YYY

why?

Thats half of black market fun!

Im really tempted to pick one up myself.

Ive got a thing for the old japanese lawsuit era stuff, and Im sure

this stuff dosent compare (yet) but I think it would be funny to own a knock off that actually has correct logos and what not

Yup, they're known for stealing pictures from other auctions so you cannot even be sure that what you see is what you get. :)

The Brian May clone must be a Dillion, which would be Korean IMHO :p

I just got a reply back from the guy selling the fake LP.

This is what I sent...

'This is not a genuine Gibson. There are several things that mark it out as a fake. The headstock shape is wrong, genuine Gibson's don't have 3 hole truss rod covers, the wonky split-diamond inlay is just a joke. The knobs are also located in the wrong place.

I would suggest you alter your listing accordingly before someone reports it.'

He's just replied with this...

'Hello. I did not know this and thank you for pointing this out.'

Ok then, let's see if he amends his listing....not holding my breath.

that explains why the brian may is good then.is dillion a factory?

the guy i know is married to a korean and goes direct to factory so i knows hes not reselling.I have seen other small companies re-badge the same guitars he gets, sometimes at mutch higher prices.

Chap i deal with would never try and pass one of as an original gibson /ibanez etc...he doesnt put dodgy logos on them.Course that doesnt stop buyers doing it then resellign on ebay

the korean guitar copies are generally pretty good, chinese stuff sucks.

They seem to use ok parts, but the machining and production is appalling. The jem i have is impossible to get a decent action out of

I think you got a Dillion because you mentioned that it had the wrong pickups. Might be the Dillion DBM04T. Dillion is a Korean company.

There also good Chinese guitars, I got 2 of those, nice clones. They were imported by a German dealer bearing his logo, that's pretty common. Got one LP clone and a hollowbody.

You're right about the Ibanez fakes, those are usually done on the very cheap and are of low quality.

There's a whole section on ibanezrules.com devoted to those :)
