new ones are a bit compromised on quality, but still are VERY solid buys - they range anywhere from 400 - 700 new, and they have good electronics for the price.

check em out, seriously...they're a step up from the artcore line.

What was the year before the quality drop? Mebbe I can buy one used

find soundclips here:

The varitone is amazing...and no hum (dummy coil and careful wiring)

they discontinued the line for a while - as far as the old line goes - i don't think there WAS a quality drop. they just couldn't compete with the Gibbys at the time.

they re-opened the model line with Korean and Chinese models. But they're essentially the same - here's a model that you can get for $500 right off the rack, but there's even more models for it that have more appointments for not that much more..

I play a Hamer Special and a PRS McCarty, and i ALMOST took this same badboy home from the store the other day.

the only thing that kept me from doing so was that i bought a few FX the week before and spare cash wasn't so free for me.

i still pick it up and play it every time i'm in the store though. it reminds me of the quality of some of the better korean Hamers that you can find, but with better pickups.

i don't think slave labor comes into play when we're talking about craftsman level instruments.

I found a blues Hawk for $570. I might get it. Not quite there with the funds, but I can wait, and it intrigues me. Plus I'll get to be idividualistic instead of doing what everybody and I mean EVERYBODY else in the price range does and buy a faded SG or a strat. Cool. One issue I have is the "underwound" designation. Is this thing gain-capable?

I think I may be sold on this thing. Keep on posting, maybe something better will come up, but I really like this thing and I should be able to pay for it pretty soon. Unfortunately I won't be able to put up a new guitar thread, no matter what I get because my sister's digital camera is with her and she flew off for 10 months today...

Hard to say - I haven't played either. You can get 'em under $500 without too much effort though... And you can make your own fret markers with a Sharpie :thu:

Wow those blueshawks are really cool! I remember playing around with one at a Mars Music (before those went out of business) when I was a complete beginner. I didn't know a thing about guitars or tone then. This is the first time I've seen or heard about them since. I'd really like to try one out now! Used prices look pretty reasonable too.

and it's 25.5 scale

what a unique guitar

Do they have markers on the side?

I know Korea's an economic ally, but China? C'mon man, in 20-60 years we'll be at war with them, and we might just lose since they bankroll our national debt

ehmm...alright.
20 years is a long way away.
20 years can mean a lot when it comes to market economics.
whether they know it or not, China is now a capitalist market. they've been acting like they can maintain as is, but the world knows better.
there might be an interior struggle, but they'll be a free market within the next 20 years whether the government wants it to be or not - look to Taiwan to see how the modernist economic idealism will eat it from the inside, should they think the party will keep control of things.

every other hardline socialist government has fallen in the same way.
it may take a while, but i doubt we'll need to fire a shot with this brand of power emerging. we'll have to concede them a LOT of oil to get them there, however. let's hope the hydro-energy vehicles take off.
:D :D :D

china's got their claws in us, but i think we've got way more distractions to play before violence comes to the forefront.
