The song that Bill Jr. mentions, that caught Bruce Swedien's ear - Peg O' My Heart by the Harmonicats - the first use of artificial reverb... here it is: My understanding is that Bill Putnam Sr. set up a speaker in a tiled bathroom, and put a mic in the far corner of the room to catch the resulting reverberation. Pretty clever and creative stuff for 1947. I've got nothing but huge amounts of respect for what those pioneers like Bill and Bruce did. They laid the foundation for everything that followed.
