Moderators Lee Knight Posted October 11, 2005 Moderators Share Posted October 11, 2005 I'm not a huge Dylan fan. I HAVE marveled at his wordplay over the years. I went from a kid who couldn't bear to hear his voice into a guy who actually kinda digs the rawness of his "pipes". Enough qualifying. Dylan's Chronicles Vol. 1 I almost didn't buy the book. "Hmmmm, I don't know. A rock star account of the past, yaaawnn". But then I got thinking. What if he took the opportunity to use his skill as a writer to create something different? To create more art, but in a different medium... With that in mind I opened it, and read a paragragh. Then another. I bought it. Folks, if you like the idea of a cross between Holden Caufield and the character from On The Road, this book's for you. What a voice Dylan has created for himself. Articulate (I had my doubts, you know?), insightful, humble, confident, shy, hell bent for glory... I'm loving this. I stayed up too late reading this and will probably do the same tonight. If you have the slightest interest, buy it. Great!

Members UstadKhanAli
I'm not a huge Dylan fan either, but the book is very interesting. Another interesting book, albeit in a completely different way, is Anthony Kiedis' book "Scar Tissue".
Moderators Lee Knight Posted October 12, 2005 Author Moderators Share Posted October 12, 2005 What I'm digging about Chronicals is that the "story" is not the star. It's a great story, mind you, but the star is the narrator's style and voice. A much different voice than I would have expected.
