Members tdb
how did Lou Reed ever get famous?? By singing about trannies before the A&E channel existed.
Members Cletus Spuckle
He got famous because he was backed by a guy who thought Campbells Soup cans were interesting to look at. Andy Warhol played a joke on the world and we all fell for it. Warhol's prints are worth several thousands, and we're still stuck thining Lou Reed is a genius. Members zuzuman
I don't know about genius, but Lou Reed has one of the most distinctive guitar tones and styles ever. The Velvet Underground has influenced more bands than just about anybody except the Beatles.
Members Mo' Cowbell
Lou Reed is one of the first to admit that he sucks at playing guitar and doesn't even bother worrying about tone. For him it's the songs that matter. Music is just a means to convey his lyrics. When he started out, it was all Paul Anka, Pat Boone and Neil Sedaka. Nobody wrote about homeless heroin addicts. He had to do it in a way that would pass the corporate censors and get heard. That was about as ground breaking as it got back in the day.
