aaahh, vintage electric rock guitar tone

And some great assortment of people enjoying gettin their freak on. :thu:

:D:wave:

If I'm correct, originally recorded by Johnny Kid and the Pirates in 1960.

This "blast from the past" was just jammed back into my cerebellum from the soundtrack from "Factory Girl" :thu::thu::thu: (out of 4) with this recorded version by Burton Cummings-Randy Bachman, et al, i.e The Guess Who

Unfortunately, not a performance clip.

Oh God they were an AWESOME band.

Live at Leeds just SLAYS!

And wasn't Mick Green kind of instrumental in inspiring Wilko johnson..or is that completely wrong?

I might have gotten the Burton Cummings part wrong, I just took it from here.

Which is a '63-'67compilation and lists:

"All tracks are in mono unless otherwise specified.

The Guess Who includes: Burton Cummings (vocals, keyboards); Randy Bachman (guitar); Jim Kale, Garry Peterson.

Recorded between 1963 and 1967"

In the process of googling around, I found the 1960 reference to Johnny Kid and the Pirates. I'm old enough to remember hearing this song in the past, but as I mentioned above, it was watching "Factory Girl" last night about the Andy Warhol group, where they played this song, that got me going on it again. I couldn't guess who it was, so I watched the credits roll and saw they used The Guess Who's version.

I've been having fun with it today, playing that vid and playing various guitars along with it ranging from my Jazzmaster, P-90 LP, Nighthawk in the bridge with the coil split, to now sitting with my LP VM and cranking the bridge BB Pro into my Vox ToneLab on the "Black 2X12" setting with plenty of spring and delay into my JC120. Definitely a day of stressing my hearing longevity. Lots of piercing bright bridge play today. :D

But I get a kick out of that vid. The montage of different folks dancing and all seemingly in tempo is rather cool and very amusing to me.
