Members apostrophe
Looking to have some work done on my Epi Dot. $45 for a set-up and $60 for a nut.?
Members FrankieSixxxgun
Is there a problem with the current nut that'd warrant spending $60 on a new one? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Members apostrophe
No real problem with the nut other than being cheap black plastic! I just want my Dot to be the player I know she can be.
Members FrankieSixxxgun
Not to sound like a dick, but it's an Epiphone, the nut isn't going to be the only cheap part. Save the $60 and carry on with the plastic nut if the guitar is fine.
Members SnoMan97
$60 sounds high to me. I just had a bone nut cut for my MIM Strat and it cost me $30, nut and all.
Members mrbrown49
yeah that price seems high, but a bone nut is a good upgrade for any guitar. Most factory nuts a {censored} anyway, so upgrade it.
Members jrfan
Just order a preslotted tusq nut from graphtech. Probably about 15 bucks with shipping. They have a model that fits the dot prefectly I'm sure. A great upgrade for a cheaper guitar.
Members apostrophe
Thanks everyone! I know a lot of people think "oh, well it's an Epiphone who cares?" But the fact is, I care. My Epi is a great, great player that blew away everything else I played the day I bought it 2 years ago. I'll be joining a small jazz group this year and I just want to bring my Dot up to what it can be. I do think $60 is a bit high. I'll check out graphtech. Thanks all! Members Coralkong
You can buy new nuts in bone or tusq (which I believe is fake tusk) for $10 on Ebay. Pre-cut and everything. Then just file it down like you want it. The files cost $6 at Harbor Freight tools.
Members JC777
Tusq is easier to cut and sounds good but I still prefer bone.
