Members Glenn F
Hi, I was in a shop yesterday, and I played 2 Epi Casinos and an Epi Custom LP w/P90's. Both of these guitars were within my range, but the
Members clay sails
The reason I ask is that the sales guy told me that if I switched out the pups on the Epi LP, I'd have a hard time telling the difference between that and the Gibson. In any event, I'd have a hard time telling
Members Glenn F
I don't specifically know about P-90s or Epi vs Gibson, but in my experience, you get the most bang for your buck in terms of sound and playability by upgrading the pups on a decently crafted, moderately priced guitar rather than sinking thousands more into a high-end axe. That's probably true. I don't think I'd buy a

Members inkblot
I would feel confident saying that the P90s in a Gibson are not the same as the P90s in an Epi. Dog ears and soapbars are really just different housings as far as I know, should sound the same. However, Gibson P90s are probably made the same place as the guitar, whereas Epi pups will be made in Asia with everything else Epi.
