Hmmm I wasn't aware of that

Yea, I contacted a shop about ordering one that they had listed on the web. They told me that it was no longer available due to the binding coming off and that it has been a problem with the Eastmans. They did say that Eastman is aware of the problem and is working on it.

I still want one though. Sweet guitars.

Lets get into the details of Japan made 335 clones. Which are the best, which are the worst, etc.

Let really go into the details, such as, how would one rank the Yamaha SA series, new and old.

Thanks.

Don't know if you're looking for something exotic but I don't think that's necessary to get a good guitar. Here's my humble MIK Sheraton. Yamaha's SA line are beautiful, quality instruments but after I finished building my Sheraton, my Yamaha AES 1500 just gathered dust so I sold it.

I was in no need of cash or anything of the sort. The plan was just to keep the best semihollow I could find. I have no regrets over selling both the Yamaha and a Gibson CS 356 and keeping this Sheraton and believe me, I REALLY liked that AES1500!

Resale value isn't important to me and I couldn't car less about the name on the headstock or country of origen.

How's the glue? Does it have good glue?

Also, which mods have you done besides the soapbars?

It sure is pretty!

I haven't heard that. I think most forum members would {censored} a brick if that happened.

I read on one of the forums, don't remember which one, that someone tried to order an Edwards thru Ishibashi and was told they can't ship to the US anymore.

Very nice...didn't know they made a lefty in these...

I found out by accident while I was looking for a Tokai. Rachel at Ishibashi showed it to me.

I thought they only weren't allowed to sell the Japanese fenders anymore. Actually... they were never supposed to but they did anyways. The used ones are still good to go.

I think that's pretty cool actually. Ugly, yes, but very cool. Is it any good?

Yes, I love the tone of the thing. Nice and 'woody' sounding. The neck and frets are extremely well done. I was a dealer for a while and I still remember going 'oooooohhhhh' when I pulled it out it's box and checked it out. You can do ANYTHING clean with it, and it sound great in crunch modes. It really doesn't mind being fully distorted, but it is not where it shines the best.

It is a limited edition and only 72 were supposedly made. Made in Korea.

Glue? I guess it's good since it isn't falling apart.

Mods= Tailpiece, nut, pups, pots, caps and sanding about half the finish off the body.

Hmm, sanding half the finish off of the body. Is that hard to do? By imagination, it seems simple enough but I have never done it or anything like it.

Is is it as easy as just sanding away with a very fine grit until you get it where you want it?

Thanks.

now THAT is nice

It is a truly first rate photograph. I want to be in that room with that guitar! Wine is another hobby of mine and he has three wine glasses in the photo. Guitars and wine. I think that they go well together. In moderation, that is. Too many guitars will clutter a home. :p

He does have me thinking about picking up a Sheraton and replicating his mods. I don't really care where my guitars come from. I am not sure if I can easily pull off finish thinning, though. The reflective quality of the guitar top suggests that he did a fine job of it.

Not really hard to do but really changed the way the guitar resonates. I bought this Sheraton used and abused. Sanding was needed to get rid of most of the dings and scratches that it picked up in 12 years.

I am perfectly able to leave a mirror finish but I stopped a step early on this guitar, so that it would keep a patina to match its age.

I think Lennon sanded all the finish off his Casino,

I've always enjoyed wine but recently spent two years living in Santiago, Chile, in the middle of a vineyard. As you can imagine, I grew to like it even more. There's a bottle of wine at every family meal at out house and most nights, I'll have a glass when I get home.

If you decide to replicate the mods I made, I'll be more than happy to list all parts, brands and work done,

When buying a Sheraton, I would suggest you try out as many as possible before deciding on one. They vary a lot from one example to another with very different feel and sound when played acousticly.

Mine is Korean, not Japanese but is a fantastic guitar for the $$. You can get one and change out the pups for seth lovers and still be way under a grand.

Here's mine:

greco335sr1.jpg

Bought it in Japan... it's Greco, but I don't know where it was made or when. All I knew was that it was the most beautiful guitar I had ever seen, and I had to have it! It's also fully hollow inside (no center block).

That's pretty awesome looking.

The Edwards clones I see on ebay all the time too are hot, too.

Wasn't there a map that Carrie read behind the clock?

Or maybe I was singing the wrong words when we did this song.

We had 2 hours before an Alliance for Survival rally to learn 4 songs from scratch incl me figuring them out for guitar.

3 were Tull (Cross Eyed Mary, Aqualung and Locomotive Breath) and this was the fourth and the best bc we jammed for 10 minutes at the end.

When I think back on that, I'm amazed we could even make them recognizable.

I played my roomie's 335 bc mine was at home.
