Members Dendy Jarrett
I grew up in South Carolina. Back in the "day", our first exposure to band came in the 4th grade when the (then) high school band director would come to the elementary school and introduce all students to band, determine what instrument would be best for you if you decided to pursue band, and then would come once a week and teach a band class to we 4th and 5th graders. From there we went to the 6th grade (our high school was 6th-12th grade - no middle school at the time). So, I was marching in the high school band as early as 6th grade.I knew right away that I wanted to be a drummer. I had a natural sense of rhythm and tempo. My parents tried to pursued me to take up brass, but I wasn't hearing it. When was your first exposure to band? D
Members 1001gear
My first exposure to band was band in 7th grade. Played trumpet 'cause my lips were thin enough. I know there were earlier encounters with parade bands and the local county band as well as the orchestra from the city but I can't recall anything beyond that.
