CMS Author MikeRivers Posted January 17, 2017 CMS Author Share Posted January 17, 2017 Here's a blast from the past. I missed this at CES this year, but just got a press release that JBL introduced the 4312SE, a new version of the 4312. That series was really popular back in the day. I had 4311s in my studio. Anyway, I thought it was interesting, particularly for them to show them at CES. They'll probably be at NAMM coming up. The new oneThe original And if anyone's interested (not much in the way of studio gear here) my show report is here. It's shorter than most. Phil O'Keefe
I wonder if they'll be showing them at NAMM? I would imagine so... I haven't heard a pair of 4312's in ages, but I do own a pair of 4412s that I modified a bit.
CMS Author MikeRivers Posted January 18, 2017 Author CMS Author Share Posted January 18, 2017 I wonder if they'll be showing them at NAMM? I would imagine so... Maybe, but then maybe not. They may be marketing it as a consumer product. It's interesting that in that info sheet, they said that the 4312SE had "the soul of the 4310 and 4311" without mentioning the 4312 and 4312A. Maybe whoever wrote it was too young to remember that they used to make that model, too. Klipsch had a pretty big booth at CES which included several of their large home speakers from the '60s and '70s which they're still making. They had a Heresy, a Klipschorn, and a LaScala there, maybe a Cornwall. All brand new and sounding good.

Phil O'Keefe
They do anything about the biodegradable surrounds? Good question! I'll try to remember to ask when I go by the JBL booth.
CMS Author MikeRivers Posted January 19, 2017 Author CMS Author Share Posted January 19, 2017 They do anything about the biodegradable surrounds? It probably comes with the territory, and the more air pollution, the faster they go. It appears that they have a new tweeter but I don't know about the woofer or midrange speakers.
