  1. Great article Craig, I started my pickup height Exodus around 12 years wit Les Pauls and BurstBuckers, finding that they were incredibly sweet pickups when lowered to level with the pickup ring at the neck and just below on the bridge, since then I've treated every pickup like an individual and tuned them for myself and sat with customers carefully working up and down with their heights and their setup. Not one customer has ever gone back to so called manufacturers recommended heights, with nearly all humbucker and single coil players setting their pickups low
  2. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee...I qualify, J Mascis Jazzmaster......I'm a corks sniffer Squier owner, wish I hadn't sold my Simon Neil Strat
  3. I've done some work, mainly pickup upgrades to Affinity Teles, and I believe them to be the closest you can get to what Leo Fender had in mind when he built his first Tele. On another note, my son has quite a few guitars.....dunno why, but when I bought him a J Mascis Jazzmaster, he just forgot about the rest apart from his PRS SE24 Anniversary. The CV and VMs are great guitars and I believe although Fender did a great job giving birth to them, they shot themselves in the foot, cause they forgot that simplicity was part of Leo's philosophy. The Simon Neil CV Strat I stupidly let go recently felt so much like an early 80s Fujigen MIJ Strat it was eerie.
  4. Dude could be still sittn at his computer waitin for wisdom:)
  5. Aaaaaw man, two in such a short space, although that's the way our two cats went, they were brothers, and left us about 6 weeks between each.
  6. For the record: I followed the breadcrumbs all of the way back and this forum has not lost its way. It is still on target. Good job, I like your style, now maybe we can close this thread seeing as we have positive proof that this is merely the hysterical witterings of an old woman who smells of stale piss
  7. So what's the solution? : Don't be so dramatic, have a laugh, love one another, spread the happiness around. It may be that all the wisdom that came from this place has now been globally disseminated and every dude and his gal are buildin custom 'Casters better'n Leo ever did Besides, I have the original map that shows the way back to where the forum was, I can mail copies at a moderate price depending on what sorta paper you wanted it printed on and whether you demand genuine HP toner or will any old generic powder do?
  8. JJ will be the perfect replacement for Maxi B. And then he will campaign for the first Irish mod......
  9. I think its gruesome and ultimately disrespectful to the dead artist. Its not them its a tape with some kind of high tech puppet. Are we so devoid of decent artist we have to virtually grave rob to get entertainment? So you don't watch any TV programs with people who have died in them?...or look at images, statues, or even read say Shakespeare??
  10. I'm still waiting for a new John Wayne movie. You KNOW they can do it... As soon as hologram technology is accessible to us commoners I'm gonna get me a Princess Leah;)
  11. What is this strange and alien concept of "almost pulling the trigger"?
