  • Why does everyone hate maple necked Les Pauls?

I've only played mahogany necked Les Pauls.

But I hear most don't like the maple neck ones...what gives?

Plenty of us like them, but it may be the fact that maple necks coincide with N*rl*ns

They're very ****************ing stable and can hold a very very low action, even in ponds

      That's good.

I was contemplating buying one, and tossing it in a pond for some troll to find.

With different p'ups and electronics, at the right price, would you own one?

maple necks on Les Pauls is just wrong.

They have to be Mahogany, its the law!

You should never deviate from the original design....ever.

BTW - two of my AL LP style guitars have maple necks and they play great. so do the mahogany ones.

the difference is the mahogany ones are slightly darker in tone.
Finally learning to enjoy something besides metal......and it Hurts!

69-71 AFAIK, that's on Deluxes, but I think they may have continued to the early 80s on some models, ain't sure

I've always wanted an LP that was natural maple/natural maple with black inlays, black binding and a black pickguard. But I've only seen like five of them in my lifetime while if I go into Guitar Center and turn left, I'll literally trip over 30 LPs with ebony or or rosewood boards.

Is there a thread on maple neck LP hate that I missed?

If it plays good and sounds good, I couldn't care less what species of wood it is.
