IMHO, the hands-down best vibrato technique belongs to Gary Rossington. His technique (which he copied from Kossoff) is amazing. His vibrato is like the sultry breath of a lover in your ear during the throes of passion.

Angus Young is right up there as well. His style is completely different, but his vibrato is like a man connected to a, well, live wire. Hard, fast, and spot on. Kinda grabs you by the short-and-curlies and takes you for a ride.

i'd add Brian May, but Paul Kossof , like on All Right Now..with that steady, even speed thruout each held note is the most difficult to get imo

Paul Kossoff is who you are thinking of. And yes, he had a vibrato style that was superb.

Thanks Also, Jorma Kaukonen. I always thought he got that vibrato with a Bigsby, but he got it with his fingers

These are the first three that spring to mind for me.

Also Blackmore, Schenker, Gary Moore, Zakk Wylde and Angus Young.

Gary Moore can teach you everything you need to know about how vibrato should sound.

Yep, my first thought was Gary Moore, followed by Mark Knopfler. And an underappreciated player all round, including his vibrato, is Mattias Jabs.

I'll have to say Gilmour because it is essentially what he creates his sound through. There are many guitarists with "better" vibrato's but he can make 1 note sound like a symphony with his.
One MIA Fender Strat, one Gibson Les Paul, one Martin Acoustic, what more do you need?

Guthrie Govan. Not only is his vibrato fantastic, he can slide up the neck and bend a note up to perfect pitch, then finish it off with interval perfect vibrato.
