Members Porkchop
people dislike so much that they revert to the sixties strat bridge instead? I don't get it.
Members kayd_mon
Maybe they think that six contact points (rather than the two-points on the American Standards) transfers vibration and tone better.
Members Porkchop
I guess so. but it begs the question: why did Fender "improve" on it?

I have both, don't have a preference but technically, using a vintage trem has more contact with the wood, even considering using the two outermost screws, as you should if set-up properly. Now, can we do away with those stupid screw in trem arms. Pop-ins are superior in every way.

Members Porkchop
I have a 98 AS strat with the new bridge. No matter what I did I could not stop the bridge from moving in the opposite direction while bending a string. So I had to give up the bar, and locked the bridge tightly to the body. Now it's flush 100%. I don't notice a difference in sustain, but I can bend a string.
Members kayd_mon
PRS design is better, hands down. That said, maybe your nut needs some lubrication. Try a pencil in the slots

Members Knutsaq
That is probably as likely a reason as any. Having had mny Strats with the modern 2-post and many with the vintage 6-screw, I actually think the modern version is superior.
