    Chameleons, "Tears"

    cheers,
    Ian

I'm really surprised that someone mentioned this band. "Tears" one of the first riffs I learned when I was starting to play guitar.

    It's just coincidence?

      'Heroes' - David Bowie

      That's not an Ebow.

      That's real feedback.

Nik is correct. There is no Ebow on "Heroes." That's Robert Fripp, his late '50s Les Paul Custom, whatever fuzz he was using that week (or perhaps Eno's Synthi AKS) and loud volume. Just your typical Fripp heavy sustain playing.

"Since You're Gone" by the Cars isn't Ebow either. Elliot Easton didn't have an Ebow when the song was recorded, so instead he taped all the strings but the one he wanted to play up on his guitar and then went into a room with a heavily cranked Marshall and got that tone by feedback.

I have never heard a single song listed (other than With or Without You which doesn't seem to be an ebow).

Is that ebow? Sounds damn good nonetheless.

I <3 the Chameleons. Strange Times is one of my favorite albums of all time. Tears is just an amazing song, and worthy of praise.

I use eBow pretty regularly when I record.

"Pretend You're Alive" by Lovedrug. It makes the intro so musch more haunting and dark.
Alternative music doesn't exist. Shoegazer music has been dead since 1991. The only shoegaze music we ever did is maybe "The Zenith" from "Silver" -- even that wasn't current when it came out. Now, I hear bands that are doing what I tried to do four years ago -- stuff that wasn't current even at that time. I just want to be a decent songwriter, not a follower. - Jason Martin, Starflyer 59, 1997
