The ones I've seen still need diesel fuel (20-50%?) - the natural gas is mixed into the incoming air at a sub-stoichiometric ratio so it won't ignite by compression. There's even propane injection systems for trucks (propane is untaxed and otherwise cheaper than diesel in many parts of the country).
