Members Koopdaddy
For those so inclined, the independent report of this event is a good read. Its not the most exciting novel to read but it is informative and hopefully will help educate people so that these types of events dont happen again. Members nchangin
In watching the video it looks like a typical setup for most outdoor concerts (that I've attended). It will forever leave an image in my brain of that roof collapsing, very scary. I hope all those injured or lost loved ones were at least compensated for their distress. It looks like the global truss was thrown like a twig in the wind on that left side before it went down.
Members agedhorse
When folks trivialize the amount of detail it takes building and maintaining stage structures, bad stuff happens.
Members cappttenron
If you think about it those structures are just big sails. The engineers here may correct me but if I remember correctly you when you double the wind speed you are increasing the load by a factor of 4X! So if you go from a 20 mph wind to 40 mph the load is quite tremendous on a structure. Look back on the clipper ships of old and they were capable of cruising a large ship 280 ft at 17.5 knots! With only wind power.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutty_Sark
