Hello Mr. Anderton,

Just wondering how you where getting along with your CME controller. Do you plan to upgrade to the XV version. Didn't know if you like the moving faders. That alone could land you on American Idol.

Well, funny thing about that. I wanted to buy the 88-key version when my studio was done after moving to New Mexico, and for a variety of reasons, the studio isn't done yet :( So I have everything set up in my office, but there isn't enough room for an 88-key keyboard. :( As a result, I'm still committed to buying the CME but it's going to have to wait a bit more...and when I do buy it, I just might go for the newer version. But I still consider it an essential purpose. Five-octave keyboards are okay for me 80% of the time, but it's that other 20%...

I really like the Keystation es88, it's so compact, light, and frankly I really like the lightweight piano action of it. I'm real close to springing for the prokeys 88sx model so I can have the few sounds that come with it.

I recently bought the CME UF5 which is the 49 key "baby" in the original

UF range ( the ones with the red "bookends").

It has the "synth" style keyboard. not the weighted keys, which I prefer

because that's what I learnt to play keys on.

Not that I'm much of a keyboard player...I'm actually a guitarist.

Anyway...the UF5 absolutely rocks.

Apart from the keyboard action and the number of keys, it has the same

controller section as all the other keyboards in the UF range.

Very handy for controlling faders in SONARS mixer or tweaking parameters

in a softsynth.

Highly recommended.:thu: :thu: :thu:

Well... from the blurb on their website the

VX seems to be a strange hybrid advanced home keyboard.

They mention "motorised fader controllers" as well as

"PadStyle intelligent MIDI songs and styles" and also a

"unique Game mode", (which seems to be some sort

of music teaching function).

Whereas the new UF series (UF 50, 60, 70 & 80)

seems like a direct upgrade of the original UF series.

No motorized faders, styles or games etc but they

have WIDI (Wireless MIDI interface) and an

upgraded version of the original UF control

interface.

2 totally different directions.

I'll be very interested to see what you make of the VX.
